Part 2 of our Big trip downunder

Up early on day 6 to fly from Brisbane to Melbourne to watch the rugby. We arrived into wet and miserable weather so after checking into the hotel we wandered into the city had a bite to eat and then took an Uber out to the beach resort of St.Kilda, the weather was no better there but we had a reason to be there so took cover in the Beach Café for a couple of hours, ate our evening meal at a lovely Italian and then headed out to the pier area to see the Fairy Penguins that nest there and come out at dusk, truly amazing sight to see the little penguins on the rocks and coming out of the sea. Day 7 was our rugby day where England were playing Australia so dressed in our rugby tops (some England some charity tops) and headed out into the city for the day. Travel Counsellors have an office out in Melbourne so I was able to meet up with my old work friend who works out there and have a lovely catch up over coffee in one of the many little lanes where there are many coffee shops to choose from, then I met back up with everyone and we headed for an outdoor lunch on the banks of the Yarra river in the sunshine, then we sampled some of the local beers and wines to make sure they tasted as good down under before heading to the AAMI stadium for the rugby opening ceremony, even though we lost we had a great night supporting our team with singing along with the other England supporters.
