Many people across the UK are taking their summer holiday a little closer to home this year as they search for some relaxation or a little fun. In response, our favourite cruise lines have decided to bring their stellar offering to UK waters so that you can enjoy your staycation at sea, so we’ve taken a look at why you should be stepping onboard.
Celebrity Cruises, Fred. Olsen, P&O Cruises, Virgin Voyages, Cunard, and even Disney Cruise Line, to name but a few, will all be bringing a member of their fleet to the UK to deliver you the classic cruise experience. And for such a rare occasion, we can’t be sure if or when we’ll ever have this opportunity again.
If there is one thing that cruise lines have mastered over the years, it is the art of service. Creating a space where your every whim is catered to and the team of onboard staff are on hand to make sure that you enjoy every moment of your sailing from the second you board to the time you reluctantly wave goodbye.
A holiday should be an opportunity to explore exciting, new flavours and with many cruise ships offering a broad selection of eateries onboard, that span elegant fine dining to laid back poolside bites, you can be sure that you’ll never tire of the menu. In order to create an immersive dining experience, these delectable menus are often paired with creative settings.
Many ships are also offering additional epicurean experiences, outside of the normal restaurants, such as wine tasting or afternoon tea sittings where you can really indulge your passion for food and drink.
Festival-like musical line ups, West end-style theatrical performances, live educational lectures, and elaborate Gala balls – the list of ways to entertain yourself on board are near endless and much more convenient than if you were to take a regular staycation on dry land.
The lack of international travel since the start of the pandemic has allowed us all to reflect on the beauty that we have right here in the UK, particularly in our coastal regions. Where better to soak up views of the rugged cliffsides and golden swathes of sand than from the unique perspective of your hotel at sea?
Cruise lines have worked tirelessly to ensure that guests can feel safe and relaxed during their time on board by introducing Covid-safe measures such as social distancing, reduced capacities, enhanced air filtration and increased cleaning across the entire ship. Each cruise line has their own individual policy with some requiring that guests be vaccinated prior to boarding. If you have any questions about these measures and the requirement for vaccines, please contact your Travel Counsellor and they’ll be happy to help.
If you’re considering taking a staycation at sea but would like to find out more, contact your Travel Counsellor and take advantage of exclusive benefits including full financial protection and a 24-hour duty office ready to assist you before, during and after your stay.
