Zurich City Break

I travelled to Zurich with my dad and sister to celebrate my dad’s 70th birthday.

We stayed at the Crown Plaza Hotel which I would highly recommend, it was a 10-minute tram ride from the city centre and then a 5-minute walk to the Crown Plaza.

Zurich is such a beautiful city and very easy to travel around. We purchased a 3-day tram pass and got great use out of it, even using it to get to and from the airport which took approx. 20 minutes.

The city itself has plenty of bars, restaurants and shops. Food and drink isn't the cheapest but I expected slightly higher prices in Switzerland.

We crossed the bridge from the city over to the old town and spent a few hours wandering around the old town, stopping off at one of the many waterfront bars along the way.

We booked tickets to go and see Katie Melua in a mountain location called ‘live at sunset’, again we travelled using the tram.

We spent a full morning cruising around Lake Zurich which was stunning. The boat stopped at several locations and if you wished you could hop on/off. We chose to relax, sipping champagne whilst taking in the views. I would highly recommend a trip around the lake and would even consider staying around the lake area if we went again.
