Belmond Villa San Michele, Tuscany

Mimi Ronald on 04 June 2019
One of Europe’s most fascinating hotels, the Villa San Michele, is located on the Fiesole Hills in Florence. It offers a postcard perfect view of the city below.

Belmond Villa San Michele has 45 guest rooms and suites and boasts amazing views of the Italian gardens, private woodland and hills of Fiesole from most of the rooms. All rooms and suites feature a range of modern amenities and are elegantly furnished with custom-made furniture and fine cottons and fabrics. In addition to a panoramic pool which enjoys views across the Arno Valley and Florence.

The hotel boasts a cookery school which offers a range of courses by respected chefs throughout the year – I always recommend getting involved with the olive and wine tasting to my clients. There are three restaurants including a traditional Tuscan restaurant which offers both indoor and al fresco dining on a beautiful terrace and a pool restaurant serving light lunches, along with three bars including a piano bar and a decadent garden bar.

For golfers there is an 18-hole golf at Golf Club Ugolino, approximately 30 minutes’ drive away and for the tennis players you can play in Nearby Fiesole.

For families upon arrival in your room you will find children’s bathrobes and slippers, bottle warmers, along with any essentials that you let me know you need there. From the Concierge Desk you’ll also be able to obtain DVDs and toys. In the restaurants there are children’s menus and highchairs – if you have a budding Massimo Bottura in your family you can even book them onto some Children’s cooking lessons. Babysitting available on request and they also have the complimentary kids Concierge.

There's plenty of exploration to be had in the nearby area from Tuscanys Art Park, travelling through time following in Leonardo Da Vinci’s footsteps, you could even head to a picturesque farm hidden in the stunning Chianti hill and meet the animals whilst learning how quality cashmere is crafted, perhaps top the day off with a tasting of the local Chianti wine? If you take a trip to Florence you can seek out the little-known boutiques, savour local delicacies.

I love finding out what your own idea of a perfect holiday is and being able to suggest ideas that you haven’t thought of. If you’d like to discuss your future travel plans with me, I’d love to hear from you on 02380 986270 or mimi.ronald@travelcounsellors.com.
